A DIALOGUE FOR PEACE

The Iraq Peace & Reconciliation College Tour

A cross-cultural peace mission designed to open a direct line of communication between the American and Iraqi people and connect the next generation of leaders of our two countries.

A Dialogue for Peace is a grassroots peace tour designed to create an ongoing dialogue between American and Iraqi university students through a series of live videoconferences. A 2010 Clinton Global Initiative University project, the goal of the tour is to build new and lasting relationships between the next and future generations of leaders of our two nations.

"My views of Americans have changed. I now see the American people as people suffering with us and seeking peace with us. We plead that you repeat these dialogues again and again."

- Student participant at Islamic University, Baghdad

"Because of this dialogue, I now know that there can be peace between our cultures."

- Student participant at University of California, Santa Barbara

ABOUT THE PEACE TOUR:

Each videoconference of the Dialogue for Peace tour provides an interactive, live forum for university students in America and Iraq to speak personally and directly to one another, allowing both sides the opportunity to ask and answer questions, break down misconceptions, and discuss possible present and future solutions. Our online community forum allows students and community members to continue their conversation, grow their relationships, and embark on their own joint projects and organizations for peace.

The peace tour premiered on May 9, 2010 with a videoconference between students at University of California, Santa Barbara, and Islamic University, Baghdad. View an archived recording of the full webcast of this premiere videoconference and join the ongoing live forum. This unprecedented and unscripted conversation between people from two countries in conflict is happening now.

Ray of Light Films has granted Global Access Media screening rights of the documentary film The Road to Fallujah for the Dialogue for Peace tour. This unique insider's view from the ground in Iraq humanizes the issues on all sides and breaks through the myths that perpetuate violence.
