The FILM

The Road to Fallujah
A Personal Journey into the Heart of War              www.theroadtofallujah.com

In a volatile and critical time in the Middle East, The Road to Fallujah is a unique insiders view from the ground in Iraq that highlights lessons learned from the war and, with humanity and compassion, points out that the mistakes of the near past are relevant to the solutions of the near future. The film informs and encourages a rational and reasoned dialogue that seeks solutions to conflict and violence.

Film Synopisis: In November 2004, the biggest urban battle of the Iraq War took place in the city of Fallujah that changed the course and outcome of America’s ambitions in Iraq. Fallujah, considered by Iraqis to be a sacred and holy city and by the American military as "the hotbed of the insurgency," was destroyed in an eight-day battle called "Operation Phantom Fury."

In January 2005, following the battle, American filmmaker Mark Manning joined forces with Iraqi human rights worker Rana Al-Aiouby, and became the only un-embedded western civilian to live with the people of Fallujah and document their stories. Manning and Al-Aiouby were the only outside civilians to gain access inside this forbidden city, which to this day remains under controlled acess to outsiders and the international press.

THE ROAD TO FALLUJAH brings to light the true consequences of war, humanizes the issues, and gives a voice to the people directly involved and affected on both sides. Through this formula, the film breaks through the myths and misperceptions that perpetuate violence and offers alternative solutions to war.

A joint production between American and Iraqi filmmakers, The Road to Fallujah includes interviews with Iraqi civilians, refugees, resistance fighters, members of the American Military and Congress, media analysts, Islamic scholars, and world leaders of peace, including Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Thich Nhat Hanh.

The Road to Fallujah is a Ray of Light Films / ConceptionMedia production
